Fine map of the northern part of North America, intended to illustrate the probability of a water course from Hudson's Bay to the Northwest Coast, across the interior of North America.
The map was prepared to illustrate the report of Meares expedition to the Alaska and the Northwest Coast of America.
The focal point of the water course across North America Lac des Esclaves (Slave Lake), with the Riviere des Esclaves flowing east to Hudson Bay and a speculative river flowing west to the Cook Strait and Prince William Sound.
