Nice full color example of Ortelius' map of Switzerland, from his Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern atlas of the world.
This is the second state of the map, with the additional place names around Lake Geneva, which first appeared in 1584. The map is based upon a map by Aegidius Tschudi, 1505-1572, with a second edition of Tschudi's map published by Konrad Wolfhart in 1560. In the "Catalogus Auctorum", Ortelius also mentions the Switzerland maps by Adelbergus Sauracher 1584 and by Johann Stumpf, and also two regional maps, Wallis by Ioannes Schalbeter and Zürich by Jacobus Monavius or Josias Murer.
