Rare plan showing the Rebel Fortifications at Columbus, Kentucky on the Mississippi River.
Detail includes a town plan, tracks of the Mobile and Ohio R.R., Road to Elliott's Mill and Ft. Holt, Road to Blandville, Clinton Road to Milburn, Paducah & Mayfield, Belmont, Capstan used to stretch chain across the Mississippi River and other notes. A key addresses Battery positions, Caponiers, Loop, Magazines and the Railroad embankment prepared for Infantry defense.
Stephens lists the map as 1862 (Stephens 216.95; 217). Apparently rare. The published edition is attributed to Bien, but there is no imprint on this example. In all, a nice example of this rare Civil War Battle Plan.
