Second edition of this decorative map of the United States, with portrait of President Washington; view of the Capitol.
The map provides a fantastic large format picture of the evolving Western territories and states, significantly revised from the prior edition of the map. Utah Territory and New Mexico Territory appear for the first time. Indian Territory still appears in its "Tomahawk" configuration.
Texas is shaped very curiously. Missouri Territory appears for one of the last times, before the creation of Nebraska Territory.
The route from Panama to San Francisco is indicated by a dotted line, as is the route from New York to Chagres. The route of the traders from Missouri to New Mexico via the Santa Fe Trail is also noted. The western Native tribes are noted in several of the western territories, including California, with several annotations within the map.
